Science City: Gujarat Science City is the initiative of the Government of India, undertaken to encourage more and more students towards education in science. This Science City boasts of the first IMAX 3D theatre, an energy park, a hall of science, Planet Earth, an amphitheatre, and dancing musical fountains. The students preparing for science exams are provided with a housing facility by the Science City.
Kankaria Lake: Kankaria Lake is an artificial lake with 34 sides. It was built by Sultan Qutab-ud-Din in the year 1451 A.D. There is a zoo located near this lake. This lake is only about 3 kms away from the Ahmedabad railway station. It also has a children’s play park in its locality. There is a musical laser show conducted here. There are other fun perks like toy train rides and boat rides provided to the tourists.
Akshardham Temple: This is one of the largest temples in Gujarat. It was constructed in the year 1992. This temple has a seven feet long idol of Lord Swaminarayan, the chief deity at the Akshardham temple. The temple is dedicated in his memory. There is a water and laser show that is organized at this temple, which is its major attraction. This show is conducted everyday except Mondays, at 7:30 pm.
Calico Museum of Textiles: Well know industrialist, Gautam Sarabai and his sister, Gira Sarabai founded this museum in the year 1949. This museum was inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru. It is one of the most important textile museums in the world, and was inspired by Dr. Ananda Coomaraswamy. It is a significant institution for the Indian textile-machine industry.
Hatheesing Jain Temple: The architecture of Hatheesing Jain Temple temple is eye-catching. It is very close to Sabarmati Ashram, and is situated on a distance of 3 kms from the Ahmedabad Railway Station. This temple was built in 1848 AD by Sri Kesarsing Hatheesing, and is dedicated to Dharmanath, the fifteenth Jain apostle. The temple has a fine, royal architecture and is made up with white marble. The main temple is surrounded by 52 shrines.One must definitely visit these places in Ahmedabad which are attractive and at the same time pleasing as well.
